 - Sports News of the Day

Tim Tebow is headed to New Jersey after being pushed out of Denver by Peyton Manning.

NBC Sports reports that the Jets gave up a fourth-round draft pick for Tebow, who will now be nipping at starting QB Mark Sanchez’s Achilles heel.

In other football news, the NFL handed down sentencing today following the conclusion of its investigation into the New Orleans Saints’ “bounty program.”

General manager Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight games; head coach Sean Payton received a year-long suspension; and former defensive coordinator Gregg William, the program’s mastermind, is suspended indefinitely.

Additionally, the Saints will pay a $500,000 fine, and lose their second round draft pick for the next two years.

The new Tebowing is… Manning?

ESPN is reporting that Peyton Manning — newly released from the Indianapolis Colts — is engaged in “intensified contract negotiations” with the Denver Broncos to replace Tim Tebow as the team’s quarterback.

According to ESPN’s sources, the Broncos will attempt to trade Tebow once the deal with Manning is finalized, which only an “unforeseen significant obstacle” would  prevent at this point.

Adding Tebowing To Injury of the Day

Adding Tebowing To Injury of the Day: Making good on his bet with Denver mayor Michael Hancock, Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl tebows the Steel City’s skyline while wearing a No. 15 Denver Broncos jersey.

“This is not something I ever thought I’d have to do, and it certainly wasn’t something I was looking forward to,” Ravenstahl told the press. “However, we’re good sports here in Pittsburgh and I want to congratulate Denver on a great win.”
