CBS Talk Show Host Death Threat of the Day

Aug. 24, 2011

CBS Talk Show Host Death Threat of the Day: A mere seven days after a death threat against David Letterman was posted to an al Qaeda-affiliated website, another CBS talk show host, Craig Ferguson, found himself in the crosshairs of an anonymous ill-wisher after an envelope containing white powder was sent to the Late Late Show studio at CBS Television City.

Thankfully, the powder was benign, but the scare was very real, and, just like Letterman before him, Ferguson used his monologue to laugh in its face.

Practice, Practice, Break Into Letterman’s Studio of the Day

Jul. 11, 2011

Practice, Practice, Break Into Letterman's Studio of the Day

Practice, Practice, Break Into Letterman’s Studio of the Day: 22-year-old bartender and struggling actor James Whittemore was arrested yesterday morning after smashing his way into the lobby of the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway where the Late Show with David Letterman is regularly taped, and proceeded to break stuff until the cops showed up.

Whittemore had reportedly been drinking before the incident, and fell asleep on the sidewalk outside the historic radio and television studio. After he awoke, Whittemore urinated on one of lobby’s glass doors before kicking it in and going to town on the interior with a velvet-rope stanchion.

Police charged Whittemore with burglary and criminal mischief. “He certainly didn’t plan this,” said Eric Williams, Whittemore’s court-appointed lawyer. “He said he doesn’t remember much of anything.”

Letterman’s set was unharmed, and CBS said the show’s taping will not be interrupted.
