That’s Racist of the Day: Minhee Cho, communications manager for public-internet journalism site ProPublica, picked up a pizza from an NYC Papa John’s store on Friday night, and she noticed they’d gotten her name wrong on the receipt. Really wrong.
“Hey @PapaJohns just FYI my name isn’t ‘lady chinky eyes,’” Cho posted on Twitter, along with a photo of the offensive sales slip.
Nearly 500 retweets later, Papa John’s announced on Twitter and Facebook that it had fired the employee responsible for the gaffe.
“We are very upset by recent receipt issue in New York & sincerely apologize to our customer,” the company said. “Franchise employee involved is being terminated.”
