Controversial Ad Campaign of the Day

Controversial Ad Campaign of the Day

Controversial Ad Campaign of the Day: A Dubai-based gym called The Circuit Factory stirred up some intentional controversy with a Facebook ad featuring an image of Auschwitz concentration camp.

Not surprisingly, UAE daily newspaper The National says the campaign comparing burning calories to genocide only lasted a few hours.

Circuit Factory founder Phil Parkinson said, “The idea of the campaign isn’t to upset anybody. The way branding works is you want people talking about your business. We want them talking about us, but we don’t want people to take offense at it.”

He then dug himself deeper by saying the Auschwitz photo was appropriate because his exercise classes are “like a calorie concentration camp.”

Oh, well, that makes sense and isn’t at all offensive. Carry on with the fitness holocaust.
