Crayon Art of the Day

Crayon Art of the Day

Crayon Art of the Day: Diem Chau continues to impress with her highly meticulously carved crayon creations.

Of these bride + groom sculptures she writes: “A recent commission for John & Jessica who got married on May 27th!…This was a wedding gift for Jessica. John had a hard time sneaking a shot of her in the dress. I hope she likes them!”

Like I always say: The way to a girl’s heart is through crayon sculptures.

Let It Go Man of the Day

Let It Go Man of the Day

Let It Go Man of the Day: A 99-year-old Italian man is preparing to end his 77-year marriage after discovering he was cuckolded by his 96-year-old wife nearly 70 years ago.

The husband, Antonio C, stumbled upon a series of letters his wife, Rosa C, received from her secret lover in the 1940s. He demanded a divorce, and is reportedly refusing to reconsider.

The couple, who share five children, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, have apparently experienced marital troubles in the past, with Antonio briefly moving out ten years ago.

If you ask me, it’s clear Antonio’s just looking for an out so he can get with his hot, young 89-year-old yoga instructor.

Frivolous Lawsuit of the Day

Dec. 29, 2011

Frivolous Lawsuit of the Day

Frivolous Lawsuit of the Day: An appeals court in Illinois ruled that a woman injured by the body parts of a man killed after being struck by a train can sue the man for negligence.

18-year-old Hiroyuki Joho was run over by an Amtrak train while crossing the tracks near a Chicago Metra station in 2008.

Parts of his body were flung in the direction of the southbound platform, knocking down Gayane Zokhrabov. She sustained a broken leg and wrist, along with a shoulder injury.

Her lawsuit against Joho’s estate was initially dismissed by a Cook County judge, but the appellate court overturned that decision, saying it was “reasonable” to expect Joho to foresee the consequences of his actions.

Zokhrabov attorney, Leslie Rosen, admitted the case was “very peculiar and gory and creepy,” but insisted Joho was guilty of “straightforward negligence.”

“If you do something as stupid as this guy did,” Rosen said, “you have to be responsible for what comes from it.”

Changing Times of the Day

Dec. 29, 2011

Changing Times of the Day

Changing Times of the Day: The island nation of Samoa will leapfrog over Friday straight into Saturday as it repositions itself west of the international date line in order to bring its time zone into alignment with other countries in the region.

Over a century ago, American traders convinced Samoan officials to move the country’s clocks east of the date line in order to bring it in line with the time zone in neighboring American Samoa, thereby providing the US with more ideal trading conditions.

However, since then, Australia and New Zealand have superseded the US in trading importance, and the decision was made to reposition Samoa closer to Australasia.

Prime Minister Tuila’epa Sailele said earlier this year that the move would also carry the added bonus of allowing people to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries twice by having their cake in Samoa and eating it again across the date line in American Samoa.

Early Bird Special: Even though Ross Everett went through the trouble of recording this video to remind Future Him of his New Year’s resolutions for 2012, I’m still fairly certain he won’t follow through with salad dressing.
