Happy Ending of the Day: Chase Bank has agreed not to evict a 103-year-old Atlanta woman and her 83-year-old daughter from their home of 53 years after sheriff’s deputies and movers refused to execute the order.
Vinia Hall had paid off the mortgage on her house years ago, but her grandson had taken out a second mortgage and was struggling to pay it back. He told FOX 5 that he was working with the banks to pay off his debt, but a judge ordered Hall be evicted.
She was due to be forced out yesterday, but Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies and the employees of a moving company hired to remove her stuff refused to go through with the eviction and simply “took off.”
The centenarian, who will turn 104 in a few short weeks, was happy to hear she wouldn’t have to leave. “I wouldn’t want to be in a mansion,” she told WSB TV. “because I love this place,” she told WSB TV.
