Frivolous Lawsuit of the Day: A Lubbock, Texas, woman has filed a lawsuit against four airlines including Continental and United claiming she developed post-traumatic stress disorder in the aftermath of a particularly turbulent flight.
Colleen O’Neal’s complaint references a 2009 flight from College Station to Houston — a typically short trip that took two hours that day due to inclement weather. O’Neal’s suit alleges that the plane “fell repeatedly, and felt as if it had lost power and was falling out of the sky.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety employee says the mental trauma she suffered from believing she was going to die has kept her grounded since, preventing her from securing a job with FEMA that would require air travel.
Neither Continental nor Pinnacle, the airline which owns the aircraft’s operator, had seen the lawsuit, and therefore could not comment.
