Big-Screen Adaptation of the Day: 50 years to the month since Mister Ed first aired on CBS, a big-screen adaptation is set to bring the talking equus back to life.
Fox 2000 announced today that it has purchased the rights to a cinematic adaptation of the classic TV show, to be produced by Jim Mahoney and David Friendly’s Friendly Films.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, unlike the original series, which used peanut butter and other analog tricks to get Mister Ed to “talk,” the movie will feature a CG horse’s mouth.
Fox 2000 has a history of bringing famous horses to the theater, having previously adapted Mary O’Hara’s My Friend Flicka.
