Worst Nightmare Realized of the Day

Jul. 28, 2011

Worst Nightmare Realized of the Day: Bulgarian exchange students Ratitsa Dzhambazov, 23, and Vanya Amokovareva, 22, were shocked to find at least four hidden cameras placed in strategic locations throughout their subleased apartment in Tampa.

“This is unbelievable, but one night I had a dream that someone watch me when I was naked,” Dzhambazova told ABC News.

The pair arrived in the US two months ago through an agency that arranges for student to study English abroad for a $1,000 fee. The travel company helped find the two a job with local businessman Raj Armani who runs a pizza delivery service that employs models.

Armani is also the girls’ landlord, and they suspect he may be behind the surveillance which potentially produced footage that ended up online.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has not officially named Armani a suspect, but electronic equipment associated with the cameras was removed from the apartment by someone other than police, and Samokovareva and Dzhambazova told Bay News 9 that their landlord has access to the apartment.

Nevermind of the Day

Jul. 28, 2011

Nevermind of the Day

Nevermind of the Day: Aberdeen, Washington, won’t rename a bridge after native son Kurt Cobain following a series of objections from city council members and concerned citizens.

Aberdeen residents spoke out against the resolution, citing the grunge legend’s drug abuse, suicide, and poor opinion of the city.

The City Council made it official with a 10-1 vote, but did offer the long-departed musician a consolation prize in the form of a small patch of land on the Wishkah River — where Cobain’s remains were scattered — which shall henceforth be known as “Cobain Landing.”

Emotional Kid Is Emotional of the Day

Jul. 28, 2011

Emotional Kid Is Emotional of the Day: Hey, kid — there’s no crying in baseball. OK, just this once. You know what? Don’t mind if I join you. Let’s all just have a big cry and get it out of our system.

There. Now back to keeping everything bottled up inside like adults.

Marketing Campaign Conclusion of the Day

Jul. 28, 2011

Marketing Campaign Conclusion of the Day: Mano a Mano in El Baño came to an anticlimactic close today with old Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa successfully laying waste to new Old Spice Guy Fabio’s Old Spice throne claims through nonviolent means, thus becoming regular old Old Spice Guy once again.

Hooray!

Now back to staring at Isaiah Mustafa’s exposed torso.

From The Archives

Jul. 28, 2011

From The Archives: MTV’s Kurt Loder compares the “worldwide computer network called the Internet” to the CB radio fad of the 1970s, strongly advises “the hypersensitive, the humor-impaired, and puritans of every stripe” to stay away in this fascinating time-capsule from 1995.
