Revelation 9 of the Day: Had John Lennon voted in the 1980 presidential elections, he would have pulled the lever for Ronald Reagan according to his personal assistant Fred Seaman.
Seaman, who was Lennon’s assistant from 1979 until his untimely death the following year, told Beatles Stories director Seth Swirsky that Lennon had taken a political turn to the right in his last years after “sour[ing] on Jimmy Carter.”
“He was a very different person back in 1979 and 80 than he’d been when he wrote ‘Imagine’,” Seaman says. “By 1979 he looked back on that guy and was embarrassed by that guy’s naivety.”
