This May Be All Kinds Of Wrong of the Day

Stevie Koerner recently discovered that Urban Outfitters had begun selling a near one-to-one replica of her “United States of Love” necklace line — the same line that allowed her to quit her day job to pursue her jewelry-making dream full-time. “My heart sank a little bit,” she writes on her blog. “They even stole the item name as well as some of my copy.”

This wouldn’t be a first for Urban Outfitters: Similar claims of jewelry jacking have been brought against the national retailer for years. “I understand that they are a business,” Stevie says, “but it’s not cool to completely rip off an independent designer’s work.”

She notes that she’ll no longer shop at Urban Outfitters or its sister brands, and will instead “do my best from here on out to support independent designers & artists.”
