Follow Up of the Day: Harold Camping Revises Rapture Date [UPDATED]

Follow Up of the Day

Follow Up of the Day: Commenting for the first time on his ostensibly incorrect Rapture start date, Family Radio co-founder Harold Camping said May 21 did actually herald the beginning of the End, but the reason you may have missed it is because it was “an invisible judgment day.” Apparently, humanity will not endure five months of fire and brimstone — instead, Earth will simply meet its unceremonious end on October 21.

The multimillionaire minister, who had been wrong at least once before, answered questions concerning the lack of Rapture on his radio show, “Open Forum.” Camping said he will speak no further to his revised prediction and would grant no additional interviews. Neither will any money be spent to promote the new Doomsday date. “The world has been warned,” he said. “We don’t have to talk about this anymore.”

Asked if he plans to unload any of his Earthly possessions ahead of October 21, Camping responded “I still have to live in a house, I still have to drive a car. What would be the value of that? If it is Judgment Day why would I give it away?”

“I thought he would show some more human decency in admitting he made a mistake,” said John Ocasion, who operates Camping’s teleprompter during live broadcasts. “If people want me to apologize, I can apologize,” Camping later told reporters. “I’m not a genius. I pray all the time for wisdom.”
