Kickass Kid of the Day

Apr. 27, 2011

Kickass Kid of the Day: Baerke van der Meij is only 1-and-a-half years old, but the toddling soccer prodigy has already signed a contract with Dutch football club Venlose Voetbal Vereniging on the basis of a YouTube video alone (see above).

OK, so it’s just a “symbolic contract,” but still.

“The toddler’s favourite position has not yet been determined,” VVV Venlo said in a press release. “However, we can speak of a right-footed player with a very good kicking technique, perseverance and, importantly: football genes via his grandfather[, a former professional football player].”

Birth Certificate Day Round-Up

Apr. 27, 2011

Birth Certificate Day Round-Up

Birth Certificate Day Round-Up: Right-wing conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi‘s latest Obama-bashing opus, Where’s the Birth Certificate, was rendered null and void by the release of Obama’s long form birth certificate — and it won’t even be out for another three weeks.

Chances are Corsi isn’t too bothered by his having penned the single most irrelevantly-titled book since cave paintings: Where’s the Birth Certificate? is currently ranked #30 on Amazon’s bestsellers list, ensuring Corsi will have more than enough fool-departed money to fund his next diatribe: Where’s the Afterbirth?.

Bobbette Miller’s hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, confirmed that Wahlberg led to six donor matches, and her transplant surgery is scheduled for June.

Dear Celebs: More of this please.

Questionable Comment Time of the Day

Apr. 27, 2011

Questionable Comment Time of the Day: UK PM David Cameron may have been playfully channeling Michael Winner when he told Labour MP Angela Eagle to “calm down dear” during PMQ, but the opposition didn’t find his “humorous remark” all that funny, releasing a statement demanding an apology.

Ms. Eagle, for her part, is taking it in stride, telling the BBC, “I have been patronised by better people than the prime minister.” BOOM.
