What Could Be More American of the Day: A Rubenesque Ryan Seacrest fan claims she was told by an American Idol audience wrangler that she was “too big, too heavy” to sit up front with her friends.
19-year-old Ashley Kauffman says she and two other friends who were similarly “unsuitable” to be seated near the judges were told to sit in back. “I took it really hard, I’m very insecure about my weight anyways,” the 150-pound Kauffman told RadarOnline, “but having this happen I had to stop myself from crying and having it ruin my night completely. But that didn’t stop it from being in my head the whole time.”
American Idol issued a statement denying the Kaufmann’s claims, saying “at American Idol, we always strive to assure that every audience member has the best experience possible. These allegations are simply untrue.”
Meanwhile, Ashley’s dad, who says his daughter’s above-average weight is the result of a medical condition, is still waiting for an apology. “I would like to see American Idol give her an open apology,” he told Radar. “She wants an apology and it should be a live apology, if that’s what it takes.”
