Bathroom Graffiti of the Day

Bathroom Graffiti of the Day

Bathroom Graffiti of the Day: Sara @ rentharrypotter says: “This is a picture of a bathroom stall at my school. The writing you see, that’s the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone/Philosopher’s Stone. I have no clue who wrote it, but whoever they are, they are my HERO.”

Here I sit, brokenhearted / tried to sh*t but only wrote the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

    must. go. to. that. school.

  • MJB

    Win win win win.

Though it seems like it’d be a bit hard to read those first few lines while sitting…

  • cheesehead

Much better than the idiotic graffiti in the bathroom stalls at my college.

  • http://Facebook Erin

    This is bloody brilliant.
I wonder how long it took him to do this.
    :’)

  • Argo

Somebody sure has too much time on their hands….

  • Nope

christ, I wish people would stop being so obsessed with those books.

What would impress me is if it were the first chapter of a good book. Harry Potter is a very popular children’s book. I think Justin Bieber should show us that popularity does not imply meaningful substance. Put something from J S Mills’ “On Liberty,” Locke’s “Second Treatise on Government,” Hobbes’ “Leviathan,” Plato’s “Republic,” O’Brien’s “Third Policeman,” or something from any number of books with real meaning.

  • toni

I think there should be made a project out of it. On each school there should be someone who writes one chapter of one of the books to the wall of a bathroom.

  • Hmmm

Your hero is a person who spent hours copying the first chapter of a children’s book on a dirty bathroom stall?

  • MillerTime

Who the fuck wants to read Second Treatise on Government when they are on the shitter? They are going to get OUT of class.. not to learn, but to drop a deuce

  • pengu

You get hemorrhoids sitting on the crapper that long!

  • LLD

    Yes.

  • Obvious

Yeah, why is this cool? Is everyone that reads this blog 13? This is fuckin’ stupid vandalism.

  • Scoboco

    Methamphetamine.

  • GR

    Like

  • Stranamechty

Reminds me of the time I went to the bathroom at the Memphis College of art during a friends graduate art show. Walking into the bathroom I expected to see some decent well thought out graffiti considering the decent artists I’ve met that go there. After entering the bathroom I saw plain walls void of anything, so I kept looking only to find on a stall door a single, solitary, swastika . . . . . . . .

  • yes

    Agreed.

  • Harry Plopper

Yeah, you’ve made a good point. Reading kids overhyped ‘crap’ like Harry Potter sure opens up my bowels. Perfect reading then.
Ah… let’s try it: “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.” Nnnnnnggggg. MeeeeMMMMMM. Rrrrrrrrrgh! SPA-LOSH! Aaaaah…

  • HP

    Agreed 2.
But the sad thing is is that they probably aren’t 13… physically… but mentally, yes.

  • Matt

    oh look, first year readings

  • M.E.

Why would anyone spend more time in a restroom stall than necessary? There’s feces and urine everywhere.

  • BForBandana

Man… that’s depressing dude. Why would you tell us this?

  • http://everygirliveeverkissed.blogspot.com/ SukeLephens

    Banksy.

  • Blah

Someone hasn’t read Harry Potter. If you had you would know why people love it so much. I suggest trying it out.

  • Charles

    Its postmodern.

  • savwolf

    Agreed.

  • Nope

If you’re going to attack those books based upon when you read them then I suggest you look at the time most people read Harry Potter. “oh look, middle school readings”

I don’t give a fuck when you read any of those, its the content that matters, and most people cant be bothered to read them at any time (seeing as how there aren’t enough tiny wizards and michael bay style explosions in them).

  • Junkyard

So you’re saying that they clean the bathrooms at the Memphis College of Art on a regular basis, and that the person who happened to be in there before you was a Hindu, a Buddhist, a Jain or a neo-Nazi?

  • dope

    can you do that?

the book has its copyrights right??

  • Cuisine

    Boring and mainstream.

  • Dongs

This is pretty awesome! I’m going to try to do this somewhere except I’ll write chapter 27 from Half Blood Prince.

  • Quixotic1

Someone needs some fiber in their diet

  • dom

now we know where J K Rowling drops hers

  • N/A

Why do all books need to have deep meaning? I’ve read thousands of books in my life time from every category from classics to new releases, fact and fiction, deep and utterly frivolous. Some days you feel like reading something serious or thought provoking or vocabulary expanding. Some days you feel like reading something fluffy. I don’t think anyone seriously considers Harry Potter to be great literature but they’re good stories which is more than can said for some supposedly great books.

  • Derek

    That would be dumb.

  • InsanelyCurious

I think that’s rather hilarious and twistedly brilliant, but looking at the comments made me sigh in disappointment more than the actual vandalism. Granted it is odd that someone would do that but is it really necessary to try and start philosophical debate on the quality of today’s popular literature based on a bathroom stall copy? O.o Geez! I think it is funny! Laugh, Cry, read it if your using that toilet and then move on with life. Someone took time out of their life for that… that is something to smile about -I mean, it wasn’t you! ^^

Now *I* would like to see someone do that with a fanfiction. ^_^

    *enter toilet user*

    “Hey! I know this story!”

    *reading*

    O.o

“When did Harry and Draco get married?! Oh my god! Harry’s pregnant!”

    O.O

    ROTFL!

  • Nope

You’ve got me there. I’d like to get a stamp on my good-intellectual-practices club card and say that I left myself able to be persuaded. I agree with you. I like a good piece of pulp fiction now and then, too, but I guess I just get worked up by the hype the books get. This is better than a piece of standard graffiti, but I think it could have been put to better use.

  • PanaChronic

You can tell this isn’t done at LSU because there are no glory holes in the stalls.

  • Twaticus

Or you could realize this is a joke?
See, it’s funny because in the first book Harry is in his first year, so it’s a play on words or a double entendre.

  • YoSafBridge

If that’s the chapter that Snape kills Dumbledore in you would be my hero!

  • Nope

Then why was it a response to my post? I think you need to realize the importance of context.

  • Michelle

    You’re an idiot.

  • Hoopy Frood

    How hipster of you.
Also, hating something just because it’s mainstream is so mainstream.

  • Hoopy Frood

Fair Use, only using an excerpt, etc.

It’s roughly the equivalent of writing down the lyrics to a popular song in your notebook, then showing them to your friends. Now, if it were in print or ebook format, there’d be a problem.

  • lolz

Classic elitist, “I’m more intellectual than you” attitude. Why are you saying that people can like different things, then pushing the things you like on others?

  • Yup

Those books are great and all, but any wise man will tell you that children are very wise, too, and probably more wise than most adults. Sometimes reading their books can teach you a lot about the simpler things in life. Harry Potter’s biggest theme is love. Sure, there’s a lot of fantasy stuff in there, but everyone needs a break from all the “good, thought-provoking” reading material. And that’s why they’re popular. Those ones you have mentioned are called classics for a reason, too.

Our bathrooms have biology problems on them.

  • Friskywisc

Haha. Based on your name I’m SURE your talking about college library!
