eBay Auction of the Day: Steampunk artist Bob Basset’s one-of-a-kind Doctor Plague Gas Mask.

The story goes that during the Plague, physicians — who were, in most cases, no more knowledgeable about curing sickness than witch doctors — would adorn this frightening mask to scare away spirits thought to be the source of the disease.

I’m pretty sure I would will myself to health just to avoid ever having to visit a plague-era doctor.

Movie Poster of the Day: Latino Review’s El Guapo is at ShoWest, and managed to snap this photo of the first official poster for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.

The film, which stars Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams, is set to open in theaters Christmas Day.
